“I grew up in Los Angeles, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said, referring to her younger children.
Angelina Jolie is reportedly preparing to leave Los Angeles after her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turned 18, marking a major transition in the actress’ life.
A source told People that Jolie is ready to “experience the world” with her children and has been considering leaving California for years.
“She has wanted them to experience the world and she’s excited that they can all do more of that together now,” the source said.
Jolie, 51, shares six children with her former husband, actor Brad Pitt — Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who became legal adults on July 12.
The actress had previously hinted that she was only remaining in Los Angeles because of family responsibilities linked to her divorce and legal battles with Pitt.
In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie said she had remained in the city because of obligations related to the divorce.
“I grew up in Los Angeles, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said, referring to her younger children.
Jolie said at the time that raising her children in a place where they could have “privacy, peace and safety” was important to her.
With all six of her children now adults, the actress is reportedly looking forward to greater freedom and flexibility.
The move could see Jolie spend more time in Cambodia, where she has previously expressed a desire to live, while also maintaining New York as her base in the United States for work.
The actress recently listed her Los Angeles compound, a historic property once owned by filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, for nearly $30 million.
The reported move comes after years of legal battles between Jolie and Pitt following their 2016 separation. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024 after an eight-year dispute involving custody and financial issues.
The former couple are also involved in an ongoing legal fight over Château Miraval, the French vineyard they once owned together.
Meanwhile, some of their children have taken steps to distance themselves from Pitt’s surname. Zahara and Maddox have filed petitions seeking to remove “Pitt” from their last names, while Shiloh and Vivienne have also reportedly stopped using the actor’s surname.
