World Cup MVP, Rodri sets to exit Man City, agrees personal terms with Real Madrid

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, bringing him a step closer to a move to the Spanish club.

The 30 year old Spain international has been one of City’s most important players since joining from Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a reported £62.6 million.

Rodri has made nearly 300 appearances for Manchester City and played a key role in the club’s success in both domestic and European competitions. He is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.

Although his contract with City runs until 2027, reports suggest his future at the Etihad Stadium is now uncertain.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Rodri has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Real Madrid. The move, however, will only happen if both clubs agree on a transfer fee.

Real Madrid have admired Rodri for a long time but were previously put off by Manchester City’s high asking price. With the midfielder now entering the final two years of his contract, the Spanish club are hopeful they can negotiate a lower fee.

If the transfer goes through, it would mark the end of Rodri’s successful spell at Manchester City and leave the Premier League champions looking for a replacement in midfield.

For Real Madrid, signing Rodri would strengthen an already talented squad by adding one of the world’s top midfielders.

For now, Rodri remains a Manchester City player as both clubs continue discussions over a possible transfer.
