Met Officer McGregor convicted in harrowing rape case
A Metropolitan Police officer, PC Samuel McGregor, 33, has been convicted of rape following an investigation by detectives.
McGregor, who was previously attached to the Central North Command Unit, was found guilty on Friday, 24 January 2025, after a trial at Inner London Crown Court.
He had denied the charges during an earlier court appearance on 23 June 2023.
The court was told that McGregor raped the victim, who was known to him, on 11 May 2021 at an address in London.
According to the Met Police, the victim later confided in colleagues, who reported the incident to the police on her behalf on 2 June 2021.
He was arrested the following day on suspicion of rape.
Chief Superintendent Andy Carter, head of Central North policing, condemned McGregor’s actions:
“I am sickened by McGregor’s abhorrent behaviour and the pain he has caused the victim. There is no place for individuals like McGregor in the Met, and we will continue to root out such vile individuals.
“I am proud of the officers who demonstrated care and compassion throughout the investigation, conducting interviews and gathering forensic evidence to develop a watertight case against McGregor.
“I hope today’s outcome brings some closure to the victim. Now that the criminal proceedings are complete, McGregor will face a misconduct hearing at the earliest opportunity.”
He was suspended from duty on 3 March, 2022 after admitting to lying during a police interview.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday, 10 March 2025, while a misconduct hearing will follow in due course.
