The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that troops of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 70 terrorists and their commanders in a major clearance operation at the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno.

The operation, which began on January 16, aimed at dismantling terrorist activities in the region, led to multiple encounters with terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of three key commanders: Talha, a Special Forces Commander; Malam Umar, an Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, a Brigade Commander.

Despite facing resistance with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide bombers, the troops successfully thwarted the attackers and even shot down drones deployed by the terrorists.

Unfortunately, 22 soldiers lost their lives during the operation, with several others sustaining injuries.
