Addressing the participants, Wahab encouraged them to rise above their circumstances, remain disciplined, and stay committed to their goals.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, and the Chief Executive Officer of Mudi Africa, Mudiagha Clement, have urged boys to embrace discipline and focus to achieve success in life.

The call was made at the final day of the Lagos Boy Child Initiative (LBCI) residential workshop, organised by Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, at Agbowa-Ikosi Model College.

The three-day event, now in its third edition, brought together over 200 boys from private and public schools, orphanages, and technical institutions.

Addressing the participants, Wahab encouraged them to rise above their circumstances, remain disciplined, and stay committed to their goals.

“Find your purpose in life. Don’t let your background limit you. Be disciplined, have the courage to say NO, and learn to speak out. Stay consistent and avoid distractions. Don’t chase money—chase your dreams, and the money will follow,” he advised.

He also commended the First Lady for initiating a programme dedicated to boys, noting that most empowerment initiatives often focus on girls.

“When we nurture the boy child, we are strengthening the pillars of the home,” he said.

Mudiagha Clement, popularly known as Mudi, underscored the importance of self-improvement, stressing that talent alone is not enough without discipline.

“You must have vision. No matter how talented you are, without discipline, your growth will be limited. Focus on education and always strive to improve yourself,” he urged.

The workshop climaxed with a cooking competition featuring five teams of five boys each. Team Ikeja emerged victorious, with each member receiving a shopping voucher worth ₦100,000. Team Lagos Island and Team Epe secured second and third place, earning ₦50,000 vouchers each.

Expressing gratitude, Oluwole Oluwatoba from St. Thomas Catholic School described the programme as life-changing.

“I have learned about the dangers of drug abuse, rape, and gender-based violence. I appreciate the First Lady for this initiative,” he said.

Similarly, Nwokorie Emmanuel of Air Force Secondary School, Shasha, praised the experience.

“I met the Deputy Governor and the Chief Judge of Lagos State. This programme has been enlightening. I’m grateful to Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu for this opportunity,” he stated.

The LBCI workshop continues to equip young boys with essential life skills, reinforcing the importance of discipline, education, and self-confidence in shaping their future.
