Kebbi SUBEB Deploys 1,000 Teachers To Remote Areas
The Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has begun to deploy 1,000 staff under the Federal Teachers’ Scheme.
The SUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Dan-Katsina Aliero, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Monday that 75 per cent of the teachers were posted to rural areas.
“Any teacher who fails to report in time will be sanctioned,†he warned the deployed staff, lauding the introduction of the teachers’ scheme by the Federal Government.
Aliero said the scheme would help to fill the vacuum created by the dearth of teachers in primary and junior secondary schools nationwide.
He said only NCE graduates were recruited into the scheme and added that the Federal Government would pay their monthly remuneration of N10,000 for a period of two years after which they would be formally absorbed into the mainstream of service.
The SUBEB chairman said the state had in the last four years recruited 2,500 teachers and supported further training for 1,000 teachers apart from organising regular capacity building workshops to boost the academic performance of the teachers and students.
He appealed to teachers in the state to be committed to their duties as the future of the students and the state rested in their hands.
Aliero warned the teachers that the board would not tolerate laxity and indolence in any of its schools.
