The leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano state, has suspended the Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Kawu Sumaila and three members of House of Representatives over alleged anti-party activities.
Others who were suspended by the NNPP leadership include: Alhaji Abdullahi Sani Rogo, a member representing Rogo Federal Constituency; Alhaji Abdullahi Rurum, a member representing Rano/Kibiya; and Ali Maadakin Gini, member representing Dala Federal Constituency.
The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa who disclosed this to journalists in Kano on Monday, said, NNPP in Kano has taken disciplinary action against some of its members, including a Senator and legislators, over anti-party activities.
Dungurawa further stated that the party expressed disappointment with the recent actions of some National Assembly members elected under the party’s platform.
According to him, despite being given complementary tickets during the party elections, the members have gone against the party’s wishes, beliefs, and values.
Our Correspondent reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at the weekend in Kano, hinted that Federal legislators from Kano who were elected under the platform of NNPP will soon dump the party for APC.
