Karim Benzema shared a dressing room, titles, goals and hundreds of matches with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid but he does not agree that the Portuguese star is the best player in football history.
Benzema made it clear while reacting to the GOAT comment made by Ronaldo.
Earlier this month, Ronaldo told Spanish Media that he is the best player in football history.
The 40-year-old said: “I’m the best player in football history. I haven’t seen anyone better than me in football history, and I’m saying truth from my heart. I’m talking about numbers. I think I’m the most complete player to have existed. In my opinion, I think it’s me. I do everything well in football… with my head, free kicks, left foot. I’m fast. I’m strong.”
When asked about these words on TNT Sports BR, Karim Benzema’s face says it all as he played down his former teammate’s claim.
The French star said: “I think everyone can say what they want. If he thinks he is the best in history, then he is. It depends, for me, for example, the best is Ronaldo from Brazil. I don’t like to make comparisons between players, each one has their own story, he has his own and it’s a very good one.”
Benzema also praised Vinicius while reacting to the issue of Ballon d’Or.
“I think these Ballon d’Or things are over, that’s it. For me, for everyone, he (Vinicius) is the best. He is Real Madrid’s decisive player and always makes the difference. I’m very happy and proud of his work. I’ve already told him, hopefully one day he can win that Ballon d’Or but it’s more important that he continues like this at Madrid, doing the things he does,” Benzema concluded.
