Supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan gathered at the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday, demanding an investigation into Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The protesters arrived at the national assembly gate as early as 8 am, coinciding with the resumption of plenary and a hearing by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petition.
However, Nigeria Police Force operatives quickly dispersed the protesters, who then relocated to the Unity Fountain to continue their demonstration.
The protest stems from a clash between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio over seating arrangements on the Senate floor on February 20.
Following the incident, she was referred to the Senate’s ethics committee.
Recently, Natasha accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and maligning her due to her refusal of his sexual advances.
