Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a stern warning to contractors handling ongoing road and drainage projects in the state, insisting they adhere to agreed specifications and timelines or risk having their contracts revoked.

During an inspection of several project sites on Wednesday, Okpebholo expressed dissatisfaction with the pace and quality of work, particularly at Orior-Ozolua Community, Orior Uteh Palace Road, New Uteh Road Ekiuwa Quarters, and Upper Ekenhuan open drainage near the Nigerian Army Cantonment.

At the Orior-Ozolua Community site, he criticised the contractor for failing to meet the specified drainage width, warning that substandard work would not be tolerated.

“Why did you reduce the width of the drain? You altered both sides. Look at my face—if you don’t follow the approved specifications, I will revoke this contract without hesitation,” Okpebholo declared.

He stressed that public resources must be used effectively and efficiently, insisting on high-quality work that meets the needs of Edo residents.

The governor’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure projects meet the highest standards, with contractors held accountable for any lapses.
