Zenith B/Ball Women League: Adewunmi Warns First Bank Team
Coach Aderemi Adewunmi of First Bank has warned his team to brace up for the challenges ahead of them, saying the ongoing third phase of the premier league will be a two-horse race between his team and First Deepwater club of Lagos.
The Lateef Erinfolami tutored First Deepwater are currently leading other teams on the log table as the league enters the home stretch.
Speaking with P.M Sports after their match against Dolphins yesterday, coach Adewunmi said the fight for the league title is going to stretch all the way to the final match of the league, hence his players must be ready for the battle ahead of them.
“I expect the fight for the trophy to go all the way to the wire considering the fact that we have been winning our matches likewise the Deepwater team,†said coach Adewunmi.
Adewumi expressed his delight over his girls’ performances, saying the team is improving as the tourney gets to the crucial stage.
“ We played better. The girls showed character and discipline and this is good for our psychology. I hope they carry on with the same spirit into our next match but we have to take it one step at a time and hope for better games ahead, †the former national coach said.
The ‘Bankers Girls’ have been the champions since the inception of the league but First Deepwater ended that record during the last edition as the Nkechi Akashili captained Deepwater won the title.
First Bank lost their game against Deepwater in the second phase of the league in Akure and are currently in second position behind First Deepwater on the league standing.
