3 Suspected Boko-Haram Members Remanded In Prison Custody 

Three men suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect have been arraigned  before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court for various offences.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two of the suspects were arraigned together while the other appeared alone.

All the suspects, who were arraigned before the  court presided over by Mr Okeagu Azubuike, pleaded not guilty, while the court ordered they be remanded in prison custody.

Nama Abdullahi, who was arraigned alone before the court was accused of belonging to the Boko Haram sect and  participating in the Maiduguri crises. 

Police Prosecutor Danjuma Etobi, said that on Sept 28, 2011,  a team of detectives arrested the accused based on information that he is a “notorious member of Boko Haram.’’

He said the accused who lives  opposite Nigerian Railway Corporation  quarters, Tudun Wada Argungu, Kebbi  confessed to have joined and retained membership of the sect since 2009.

Etobi said the accused was charged with belonging to an unlawful society, contrary to provisions of section 33(1) (A) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act of the Federation, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty while the case was adjourned till December 1, for further hearing.

One Abdullahi Bello and Ahmed Ibrahim, who were also  arraigned before  the court, were accused of belonging to the Boko-Haram sect and giving false information.

Bello who lives at Pilot Science Primary School Gwagwalada and Ibrahim who lives at House No. 38, Road III, opposite 3rd Avenue, Gwarimpa, Abuja, allegedly committed the offence on January 15, 2009.

Police Prosecutor Danjuma Etobi, said that on January 15, 2009, the accused persons conspired and gave a false residential address to Chief Magistrate Court Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
He said the accused person misled the court in granting bail to the late leader of the Boko Haram,  Mohammed Yusuf.

Etobi said the offence was contrary to the provisions of sections 97(B), 97 and 139 of the Penal Code Law.

The duo pleaded not guilty and  were also remanded in  prison custody while the magistrate also adjourned the case till December1 for hearing.
