Governor’s Cup: Babalola/Ndiaye Lose Doubles’ Trophy
Nigerian Abdulmumini Babalola and Senegalese Daouda Ndiaye could only settle for runners up trophy in the men’s doubles event of the second leg of the Governor’s Cup, as they failed to beat the pairs of France’s Paterne Mamata and Vaja Uzakov of Uzebekstan.

Babalola, who had won the doubles event in the past two editions, and his partner fought a good fight in the keenly contested final played Friday afternoon at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, but they ended up losing 5-7,6-3, 8/10.
Meanwhile, top seed in the Men’s Singles, Slovakia Kamil Capkovic justified his rating in the Etisalat/FCMB sponsored ITF approved circuit as he zoomed into Saturday’s final after he defeated Ante Pavic of Croatia 6-3, 7-6(2).
He will play Indian Vijayant Mallik, who defeated compatriot Yuki Bhambri in 7-6, 6-0 game.In the Women’s Singles, Number 3 seed, Belgium’s Tamaryn Hendler defeated Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in 6-2,6-5 match to set up a final cracker against Donna Vekic of Croatia. Vekic beat Dalila Jakupovic in 6-3,3-6,7-6 in a tight semi final cracker.
Trophies will be presented to the winners in all categories on Saturday in a final ceremony which will be witnessed by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos, President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, Engr. Sani Ndanusa and other dignitaries.
