The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has debunked reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of its Comptroller- General of the Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Recently, Tinubu approved an extension of Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to December 31, 2026.
But in a statement by its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the Customs Service said the report was false.
“As of this moment, no such directive has been communicated to the NCS by the appropriate authorities,” the statement said.
While reaffirming the commitment of the NCS to its core responsibilities, the statement said, “Updates regarding appointments or tenure decisions will be formally communicated through the appropriate government authorities.” the statement added.
