Hendler Attributes Victory To Fans’ Support

The winner of the second leg of the 11th Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, Tamaryn Hendler of Belgium has attributed her victory in the final of the Women’s Singles to the support she received from Nigerian fans during her match against Donna Vekic of Croatia on Saturday .

Hendler told P.M. Sports after winning in straight sets of 6-4, 7-5 at the Lagos Tennis Club, Onikan that though the Croatian lady made the match difficult for her, she was able to subdued her with her experience.

The number 3 seed praised Vekic for her doggedness and strength to hold her in the second set of the gritty final.

“I need to appreciate the support of the fans because their cheer really motivated me to win this match. I think I owe them this victory. My opponent made the game very difficult for me. She did not play like an unseeded player. She really put up her best, but I’m happy I won,” she said.
