“I have a longstanding influence in Anambra politics. I have been instrumental to the emergence of successive governors in Anambra over the years. I have played the role of a godfather, but now, I am ready to father myself,” Ukachukwu declared.

Senator Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

The results of the party’s primary election was announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu.

Ukachukwu won with a landslide by scoring 1,455 votes to defeat his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, who scored 67 votes.

Third position was Johnbosco Onunkwo who scored 26 votes and the fourth, Edozie Madu scored 8 votes.

26 votes were declared invalid.

The primary election began on Saturday and ended on Sunday morning.

In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu thanked President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a hitch-free and transparent intra-party election process.

He also commended the APC National Working Committee, Otu and his team, his co-contenders, and all delegates for their roles in the successful conduct of the election.

He called on his fellow contestants to unite and rally around him.

“The most important thing now is to deliver Anambra to the APC.

“I have a longstanding influence in Anambra politics. I have been instrumental to the emergence of successive governors in Anambra over the years. I have played the role of a godfather, but now, I am ready to father myself,” Ukachukwu declared.

He assured party members and the people of Anambra of his unwavering commitment to their trust, pledging not to disappoint them.
