Toyin Amuzu Foundation Empowers 100 Youths and Women in Abeokuta South with POS Businesses and CAC Registration
The Toyin Amuzu Foundation (TAF) has taken a significant step towards fostering economic growth in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, Ogun State, by empowering 100 women and youths through Point of Sales (POS) business opportunities and business name registrations with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Chief Toyin Amuzu, a former House of Representatives candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the initiative as a strategic move to encourage self-reliance among the youth, boost economic opportunities, and generate jobs within the community.
“This initiative is designed to alleviate the economic hardships currently faced by many Nigerians. By empowering individuals, we aim to take them off the streets and give them the tools to support themselves and others,” Amuzu stated.
He emphasized that the foundation’s focus is not politically motivated, but purely humanitarian.
“This is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political effort aimed at improving lives in Abeokuta South.”
Amuzu further outlined the foundation’s ongoing commitment to philanthropy, citing previous projects such as interest-free loans for small and medium-scale enterprises, community water projects, and various empowerment programs for both youths and women in the Abeokuta South constituency.
With this latest initiative, Amuzu reiterated that the foundation aims to foster economic development by equipping local entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to formalize their businesses and unlock opportunities for growth.
“This initiative aims to empower at least 200 people. If I can empower 100 individuals, they can each employ one person. This creates a cycle of employment, where workers can rotate shifts, ensuring job continuity and payment,” he explained.
“To ensure that the beneficiaries are not left vulnerable to harsh weather conditions, we also provided them with POS machines and kiosks to support their businesses.”
Amuzu made it clear that his motivation comes from a genuine desire to support the community, rather than political affiliation.
“I am not doing this because I am a PDP member; I am doing this because I understand that the current economic climate is tough, and simply handing out money is not a lasting solution.
“I believe that empowering people with businesses is a more sustainable way to make a difference. Many of the beneficiaries are not PDP members—only about 15 are. The others were selected randomly from the streets of Abeokuta South for empowerment,” he said.
Speaking to journalists after the presentation of cash, CAC certificates, and kiosks, Amuzu emphasized that the foundation’s efforts could serve as a model for private-sector-driven empowerment in Nigeria.
“As Nigeria grapples with economic challenges, initiatives like this demonstrate how strategic support can help build resilience and spur economic growth.”
At the presentation of certificates, Hon. Abayomi Nureni Tella of the PDP urged party members to unite ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Don’t look at faces when uniting, but focus on the benefits that can be derived from collaboration. And to the beneficiaries, remember the day Chief Amuzu was there for you when no one else showed up. His vision for a better future should not be forgotten,” Tella said.
He also called on the women in attendance to pray for the party, stressing the importance of their support.
