Realising that his victim had died, an irate mob quickly descended on Onyekaba, delivering a savage beating that ultimately led to his death.

In a shocking act of mob justice, Uche Onyekaba, a staff member of the Abia Water and Sewage Corporation, was brutally lynched by an enraged crowd in Ukaonu Street, Aba, after allegedly killing another man with a stone during a fierce argument.

The altercation, which reportedly stemmed from unresolved salary issues, escalated when Onyekaba picked up a stone and struck his opponent, causing him to collapse.

Realising that his victim had died, an irate mob quickly descended on Onyekaba, delivering a savage beating that ultimately led to his death.

While some locals suggested that Onyekaba’s frustration over his salary woes triggered the violent confrontation, a senior official from the Abia State Ministry of Power and Public Utilities dismissed these claims, confirming only that Onyekaba had tragically lost his life.

The Abia State Police Command, through spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident and revealed that an investigation is underway.

Preliminary findings indicate that the two men were embroiled in a physical altercation, culminating in one man’s death and the other’s violent lynching by the mob.

The police have visited the crime scene, removed the bodies, and are working to uncover the full details of the incident.
