A 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Bashir, was remanded in prison on Friday after he pleaded guilty to stealing property valued at N1.1 million belonging to a school in Badagry, Lagos State.

He was arraigned on one-count charge of stealing BEFORE Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that Bashir committed the offence on March 27 at about 12:00 a.m. at Mauyon Green School, Magbon, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The prosecutor told the court that Bashir stole 20 pieces of aluminum sheets valued at N300,000, seven ceiling fans worth N380,000, and a computer central processing unit valued at N420,000.

“The total value of the stolen items is N1,100,000, all belonging to one Mrs Margret Adasa, the complainant,” he said.

Ekpo told the court that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Following his guilty plea, Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni ordered his remand at the Awhajigoh Correctional Centre, Badagry, and adjourned the case until April.24 for review of the facts of the case and sentencing.
