LASIEC announces date for Lagos LG elections

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially released its Notice of Election, signalling the commencement of the electoral process for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas, 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 376 wards.

This is contained in a statement issued by LASIEC’s spokesman, Ojo Tope Stephen on Friday.

The announcement, made pursuant to Section 21(I) of the LASIEC Law of 2008 (as amended), sets the stage for the transition to a new local government administration as the current tenure draws to a close.

According to the notice, elections will be held on Saturday, 12th July, 2025, across all LGAs and LCDAs. A possible run-off or re-run, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, 19th July, 2025.

LASIEC has invited all registered political parties to obtain nomination and other necessary forms from its headquarters on behalf of their candidates.
