Popular on-air personality, Dotun Ojuolape, widely known as OAP Dotun, has taken to social media to share an honest and reflective message with his followers, urging them to focus more on building a strong mindset rather than relying solely on financial status.
In a series of tweets posted on the X app (formerly Twitter), the media personality, who has been publicly entangled in a child custody battle with his ex-wife, dropped motivational nuggets about self-worth.
Dotun stressed that people should not measure success or relationships strictly by financial contributions, noting that true character often emerges when a person gains wealth or influence.
“It can get better, but that’s not solely dependent on your pocket but your mindset. Choose what you allow wisely,” he tweeted.
He went on to explain that money and power tend to reveal a person’s true nature.
“The person you see when they get rich is who they really are… Nothing will change a man’s real attitude till money or power touches their hands.”
Dotun cautioned against forcing friendships that are based on financial benefits, advising individuals to step back from such relationships and focus on self-investment.
“You can’t force a friendship that is dependent on money or what you can bring to the table… Remove yourself till it gets embarrassing,” he advised.
He concluded with a call for kindness and personal development: “Please invest in yourself as much as you build a family and friendship… Make sure your friends are kind and you are kind to them.”
