Lagos Set For Nigerian Idol Auditions

Anticipation is reaching fever pitch as talented singers from Lagos and neighbouring states prop up their talents to feature in the Nigerian Idols season II auditions set to hold at Dream Studios, Omole Phase I between Friday 4 November and Sunday 6 November. This highly anticipated audition is the finale for season two’s selection exercise which started in Abuja about four weeks ago and has gone through Port Harcourt as well as Enugu.

The thrill seems to be more with musical groups who are fast signing up to the Idols fever. From the National Theatre music group to peer group music gatherings like Taruwa, One-Mic Naija etc, there are constant rehearsals for this event. The sort of buzz the Nigerian Idol auditions is generating has never been seen before and is alien to other talent shows, past or present.

The last Idols audition held in Lagos for Season I was a spectacular show with excited contestants giving it a carnival feel with their impromptu rehearsals. That is what the organisers are relying on to stretch the boundaries of this year’s edition. “Judging by the popularity of the show last season and the excitement and energy shown by the participants, we expect an even greater audition this time around now the stakes are higher,” said Nigerian Idol Executive Producer, Rotimi Pedro.

Lead sponsors of Nigerian Idol Season II, Etisalat are also excited about the upcoming auditions in Lagos. “We are always amazed and appreciative at the level of acceptance and enthusiasm we get from young people who want to be a part of this brilliant show. That is the simple reason why Etisalat continues to support Nigerian Idol.” said Femi Ashipa
