Audu Promises To Establish Agric Varsity In Kogi Central

Prince Abubakar Audu, a former governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate in the 3 December Kogi gubernatorial election, has promised to establish a University of Agriculture in the Central Senatorial District, if elected.

Audu, who made the promise at the flag-off of his campaign in Okene on Tuesday, said the university would provide opportunity for the youths to harness the agricultural and mineral resources of the state.

The ACN standard-bearer added that a campus of the Kogi State University, KSU would also be located in Okene to take care of other courses not run by the specialised university.

He also promised to create about 13,000 job opportunities in collaboration with the Dangote Cement Company, Obajana, to reduce the rate of unemployment in the state.

Audu further pledged that he would address the infrastructure decay in the state through the construction and rehabilitation of roads, healthcare facilities and water projects, among others.

He also assured the people that arrears of salaries and allowances of workers and pensioners would be cleared within three months of his assumption of office while efforts would be made to curtail the growing unemployment rate.

He urged the electorate to guard their votes and ensure that the results are entered into the result sheets before leaving the polling units.

Earlier, the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, said that like all ACN-controlled states, the party would ensure rapid transformation in Kogi.

He said the party would guarantee free education and healthcare delivery to the people of the state.

Mr Dino Melaye, a former member of the House of Representatives, chronicled Audu’s achievements in the state between 1999 and 2003 and assured the people that a higher quantum of development would be attained, if voted in December.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that the rally was attended by ACN chieftains from the three senatorial districts of the state.
