Singer Terry Apala has given activist VeryDarkMan a 48-hour ultimatum to remove a defamatory post that accused him of bribery with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a cease and desist letter issued by his lawyer, Apala vehemently denied the bribery claims, describing them as false and damaging to his reputation. He further clarified that he has never been involved in financial corruption with any individual or organization.
Apala also provided an alibi, revealing that he was outside the country during the period the alleged bribery incident supposedly occurred, as he was observing Ramadan.
The singer expressed concern over the potential harm the false accusations could cause to both his own reputation and the integrity of the EFCC. He has demanded that VeryDarkMan retract the post, issue a public apology, and clear his name.
The cease and desist letter stated, “I want to state clearly that this bribery allegation is a total lie and has no basis in reality. I have never bribed anyone, nor have I been involved in any kind of financial corruption with any organization or individual, whether public or private.” Apala further emphasized that the accusation should be publicly refuted to safeguard his reputation and the EFCC’s integrity.
