Allow Farida To Do Her Job -Momoh
The National Chairman of CPC, Chief Tony Momoh, has advised that EFCC Chairman Farida Waziri be allowed to do her job.
“The person there is a qualified lawyer, a retired police officer and there is nothing wrong with her, people should allow her to do her job,’’ Momoh said.
Momoh’s statement follows agitation for the anti-crime commission to be headed by a retired judge.
“One’s qualification as a retired justice does not mean that such a person has integrity,’’ Momoh said in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.
“People are just playing politics with EFCC.
“And why do you think that someone that has qualification either as a judge or a soldier or any other person automatically means integrity?
“If people of integrity are to be looked for to head such a place, was Nuhu Ribadu not there before? Did he not deal with many people? This Waziri, is she not trying? But the fact is the people who are complaining are the ones who don’t want anybody to be tried.”
He argued that there had been cases where “some of our attorney generals were accused of bribery and corruption, some of the judges at the highest level even at the Supreme Court.
“What we are saying is that it is not because someone is a judge that you would give the person the job. No, you look for people with integrity to do the job.
“Waziri is there, what has she done? What I am saying is that leave Waziri to do her job. They interfere too much, allow her to do the job properly if she fails to do it then we can take her off.’’
