VDM’S arrest history: All you need to know

Popular Nigerian critic, Martins Vincent, popularly known as Verydarkman has been on the bad side of the law on several occasions.

VDM who is popular for being confrontational has amassed both followers and enemies for speaking out over the years.

He is currently in custody after his arrest in Abuja.

Here are other times the self acclaimed critic has been on the wrong side of the law in Nigeria.

In March 2024, VDM was arrested and accused of cyberbullying.  The allegation was made by Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo who claimed he was guilty of cyberstalking.  He was detained for two weeks and later released after his hearing where he pleaded not guilty of the allegation.

Also in 2024, VDM was arrested by the Nigerian police force for disrespecting the Police Uniform. In October, VDM made a video wearing the Police uniform and was arrested.

A year after his first run in with the law, VDM was accused again on the grounds of defamation.  In March 2025, popular Nigerian gospel Musician, Mercy Chinwo accused VDM of defamation which led to his arrest. However, after being summoned by the court, he refused to appear for the hearing.

The most recent case of his arrest is his ongoing case which occured on the 2nd of May 2025. It was reported that VDM was arrested at the GTBank premises .

VDM’S most recent case has sparked controversies and protests in Abuja as various celebrity and influencers have called for his release.
