‘We’ll Render Selfless Service’
Newly elected Leader of the legislative arm of Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Linda Bola John, has pledged her commitment and those of her colleagues in the task of rendering selfless service to the people they seek to represent.
She made the promise yesterday shortly after the chairman, Mr. Abdulraheem Olajide Jimoh, proclaimed the third council of the LCDA in a well attended ceremony witnessed by party leaders and supporters in the area.
According to John, the legislative arm of any government is very important as it formed an integral part of such administration, noting that councillors have great roles to perform, while promising to assist the chairman in the task of providing more dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking earlier, Jimoh, on behalf of his deputy, Bola Lawal-Olumegbon, thanked the people of the area for their support and for voting Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), promising that in the next three years, the focus of his administration shall be to consolidate on the foundation of the last tenure, the empowerment of the youth and the aged as part of its social responsibilities, improve on the public schools and facilities in the primary healthcare centres as well as welfare of the people.
The only People’s Democratic Party member among the nine councillors, Jelili Olanrewaju Shodipo, representative of Ward I and minority leader, pledged to work in harmony with his colleagues for the benefit of the people they sought to represent.
Other principal officers elected yesterday are Haruna Ishola (deputy leader), Oluwarotimi Akeju (majority leader) and Roland Obasa (deputy majority leader).
