Police Parade Suspected Firearms Manufacturer
 The Bauchi State Police Command on Friday paraded a suspected firearms manufacturer along with other suspected criminals.
Parading the suspected firearms maker, Gambo Mohammed, and his partner, Alhassan Mohammed, before newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikechuku Aduba, said the police arrested them after raiding a premises within the Bauchi metropolis  in October.
He said the police recovered two firearms and ammunition fabricating apparatus in Gambo’s premises along with one oxygen gas cylinder, corrugated local implements for firearms and ammunition manufacture, 27 locally made Beretta pistols and 10 cartridges.
Aduba explained that the police initially arrested the suspected arms dealer’s collaborators and he, in turn, confessed to having sold numerous locally made pistols.
“Upon his arrest, Mohammed (Alhassan) confessed to having sold numerous locally made pistols at the rate of N69,000 per piece.
“His confession led to the arrest of the supplier who is the manufacturer, who also voluntarily confessed to establishing and operating a functional illegal firearms and ammunition manufacturing enterprise.”
The police commissioner said that both men had given useful information to the police concerning the names and whereabouts of others, including those who had patronised them.
In another development, the police have arrested Isah Kolo and Bappah Kawu for allegedly being in possession of one locally made revolver pistol and six rounds of locally made ammunition.
Also arrested was Sulaiman Mohammed, suspected to have robbed a victim in Bayangari quarters on the outskirts of Bauchi.
Aduba said all the suspects would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations and assured residents of the state that the police had made arrangements to confront any security challenge during the Sallah period.
“Almost all the forces available in the state are prepared to face security challenges during the Sallah period.”
