OPC Leader Arrested With Gun In Ijebu-Ode

Leader of Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, in Ijebu-ode, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, Akeem Adeshina, has been arrested by the police for alleged illegal gun possession.
The OPC leader, popularly known as Igwe, was arrested yesterday by policemen drafted to Ijebu-Ode to maintain peace after series of clashes between rival groups in the area.
The clashes were believed to have been sponsored by rival transport unions in the area.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the Ibadan, Oyo State-born OPC leader was taken to Igbesa police station, Ijebu-Ode, after he was arrested.
He was then transferred to the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
A police source confirmed the arrest of Adeshina, saying that mobile policemen picked him up on allegation of being in possession of a gun.
When Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, visited Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday, he said people suspected to be behind the incessant killings in Ijebu-Ode must be arrested and prosecuted.
