Police nab 21-year-old lady for arms trafficking

The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested Fatima Salisu a 21-year-old woman allegedly involved in arms trafficking.

The police said her operations were in in key local government areas of the state.

According to the Command, Salisu a native of Funtua town in Katsina State, was intercepted at the Azuba area of Lafia local government while allegedly transporting a ammunition through Keana and Doma LGAs, en route to deliver the consignment to criminal elements in Katsina.

The command’s Public Relations officer,Ramhan Nansel, said, “Acting swiftly on the intelligence tip-off, the commissioner of police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

“The team acted with precision, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.”

He added: “This arrest marks a significant win in the ongoing fight against illegal arms proliferation and criminality in the region.

“The Nasarawa State Police Command remains steadfast in its resolve to rid the state of crime and calls on members of the public to continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.”
