DFID To Support 500,000 Girls Under Its Girl-Child Education Programme

 

 The United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) says it will support 500,000 girls in Nigeria under its Girl-Child Education Programme.

 

The DFID’s North-West Coordinator, Mr Ben Roy, made the announcement when he visited Gov. Patrick Yakowa in Kaduna on Friday, saying the goal was to improve the quality of education in the country and boost the living conditions of the people.
He said the DFID would also provide six million Nigerians with nutritional support and health care services so as to improve their health status and alleviate poverty among the poor.
Roy called on the state government to assist in ensuring the success of the exercise.
Responding, Yakowa expressed the determination of his administration to meet the needsof the people and pledged to support the DFID to ensure the success of the programme.
The governor also said that the administration was determined to make an impact in the areas of education, health and youth empowerment
