Sam Adeyemi, Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, has spoken up regarding the state of leadership in Nigeria.

Adeyemi addressed this while speaking on Channels Television morning show Sunrise Daily.

He expressed his distaste for the lack of empathy among some leaders. He states that Nigerian political leaders are more focused on staying in power than improving state of living for citizens they were elected to serve.

“The fear of losing power drives many leaders to defect between political parties. Some have clearly lost touch with the plight of the poor; they lack empathy and compassion,” Adeyemi said.

He also spoke on the culture of godfatherism in politics and how they are mostly focused on attaining power than serving.

“This system breeds leaders who become corrupt and forget the people they are meant to serve,” he stated.

Adeyemi also urged political leaders to put the nation’s development as a bigger priority than personal gain.
