Tension gripped Nigeria’s capital city on Monday following an explosion that occurred at a bus stop directly opposite the Mogadishu Cantonment, popularly known as Abacha Barracks, in Abuja.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the incident in a terse post on its official X handle (@HQNigerianArmy), stating: “Explosion At Bus Stop Opposite Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja. Situation Under Control. Details Later.”

Security operatives were swiftly deployed to cordon off the scene, with movements restricted while preliminary assessments were conducted.

It is not yet known if there were casualties or the nature of the explosive device, but sources within military circles say an investigation is already underway.
