Role of Women in Nation Building Cannot Be Over-looked —Adefulire
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire has stated that the role played by women in nation building cannot be overlooked.

She made the declaration yesterday at the Humanitarian of the Year 2011 Awards Ceremony of the International Women Society, (IWS).
She said recognising the potentials of women who have contributed their quota in putting smiles on the faces of the less- privileged in the society was highly commendable.
According to her, the effort of these organisations to help the vulnerable groups in the society is a welcome development which deserved to be complemented by both the government and the society in general.
Speaking further at the well attended ceremony, the deputy governor also commended the President of the Association, Mrs Cecilia Umoren for the success recorded during her tenure .
She said transparency and accountability are indispensable in the school of success.
The President of the society, in her welcome address, said the IWS choose to honour women whose vision for social change has impacted the lives of many in their community, adding that many of them are involved in various projects that deserve recognition for selfless generosity.
The awardees include Chief Mrs. Chief Amina TitI Abubakar, wife of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, Teressa H. Clarke, Kate Henshaw, Mrs Jean Obi, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, Mrs Maryam Uwais and Ms Ufoma Emerhor.
Among those who were present at the occasion are the First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola, the First Lady of Cross River State, Mrs. Obioma Liyel- Imoke who was also one of the recipients, and former first lady of Kwara state, Mrs Toyin Saraki.
