A Muslim pilgrim from Plateau State Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, has died in Mecca.
This was disclosed by Mr Daiyabu Dauda, the Executive Secretary of the State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Jos.
He said said that the pilgrim died on Monday at the King Abdul’aziz hospital, Makka due to complication from diabetes.
“When the complications began, we immediately took her to the hospital for proper medication inline with our mandate.
“Unfortunately, we lost her and the doctor at hospital confirmed it was complications due to diabetes,” he said.
He said that the deceased had been buried in Mecca according to Islamic rites.
The death of Dauda happened seven days after a 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, Mrs. Danzumi Adizatu, died in Mecca.
The deceased who hailed from Jattu Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State, died on Monday, May 26, 2025, at King Fahad General Hospital, in Makkah, after a brief illness.
The news of her death was then announced in a WhatsApp voice note Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025, by the Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh.
He said, “Mrs. Adizatu was hospitalized on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after (Tawaaf) following a short illness and succumbed to her condition the following day.
“In accordance with Islamic rites, Mrs. Adizatu was buried in Makkah on the evening of the same day she passed away.
“The Chairman of the Board has since contacted her family in Jattu Uzairue to inform them of the tragic development.”
