LG Boss Charges Councillors On Good Governance
Chairman, Ifako-ljaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, Dr. Oloruntoba Oke has called on the newly inaugurated members of the legislative arm of the local government to place the community above self interest.
The council chairman stated this at the inauguration of the legislative arm of the local government at the multipurpose hall of the council on Old Akute Road, Iju.
Oke, while proclaiming the local government legislative arm, said the event is as important as the survival and success of the administration “without which we will not have the legal or constitutional backing for our policies, programmes, initiations and implementations.â€
He explained that his administration which he christened “Government of empowerment and integrationâ€, is poised to bring about better days for residents. This he intends to actualize through his six –point agenda, which include youth empowerment and skills acquisition, trade improvement scheme for women, welfare for the elderly, comprehensive healthcare, sports regeneration and improved infrastructure.
While charging the legislators to come up with people -oriented laws that would address the challenges confronting the residents, Oke called for cooperation, teamwork and dedication of all stakeholders to move the local government forward. Following the proclamation by the council boss, the House commenced proceedings with the election of principal officers. Mr. Niyi Fadare, councillor representing Ward A, emerged as the Leader of the House.
