“This operation underscores our zero-tolerance stance on criminality and our commitment to restoring safety across Lagos. We will continue to clamp down on individuals who pose a threat to the well-being of law-abiding residents,” CSP Akerele said.

In a decisive crackdown on criminal activity, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) has raided several black spots and drug hideouts in Gowon Estate and its adjoining streets.

The taskforce arrested 19 suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking and related offences.

The operation, conducted as part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to restore order and safeguard public health, led to the discovery of a significant cache of illicit substances.

Among the seized items were quantities of Colorado, Indian hemp, narcotics, and other banned drugs—some of which were stashed in the boots of parked vehicles within the vicinity.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reiterated the agency’s determination to eliminate criminal elements operating within the state.

He emphasised that all arrested individuals would be prosecuted accordingly, and called on Lagosians to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities through the ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative.

“This operation underscores our zero-tolerance stance on criminality and our commitment to restoring safety across Lagos. We will continue to clamp down on individuals who pose a threat to the well-being of law-abiding residents,” CSP Akerele said.

This latest raid marks the fifth in a series of coordinated actions targeting illicit drug use and hooliganism in the area.

The Lagos State Taskforce reaffirmed its resolve to sustain the momentum until the menace is completely eradicated.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies to promote a safe and crime-free society.
