Protesters have begun to gather in the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos, to express their grievances over the state of the nation.
The protests coincide with Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
In Abuja, demonstrators were seen in the Apo area of Abuja, chanting solidarity songs and waving placards to express their grievances.
Security agencies were also in different locations to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Protesters were also seen gathering at Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos. They were said to be members of civil society groups and pro-democracy activists.
However, there was a heavy police presence. Particularly, there were officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, were seen.
The demonstrations highlight the ongoing concerns about the country’s economic and security challenges.
