Nigeria Police recover stolen vehicles in Ghana, Niger Republic

The police encouraged all citizens to register their vehicles on the Police Electronic Platforms and take necessary precautions to enhance the chances of swift recovery in the event of theft.
The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, says it has recovered and returned many vehicles stolen within Nigeria and trafficked to Niger and Ghana.
A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police recovered a Toyota Prado (2020 model) in Accra, Ghana, which belonged to a Federal Government Agency in Nigeria. The vehicle was stolen during a robbery incident in Abuja, and three suspects were arrested in Ghana and charged to court.
Additionally, the police recovered a Toyota Hilux (2018 model) belonging to another Federal Government agency in Nigeria, which was stolen from a staff member in Utako District, FCT Abuja. The vehicle was tracked to Agadez, Niger Republic, and officially handed over to a senior staff member representing the agency at the Nigeria-Niger border.
The police are also finalising the recovery and return of two additional vehicles – a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV, which were stolen from their owners in Abuja in May 2025 and subsequently sold in Niamey, Niger Republic.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the operatives involved in these operations, reiterating the commitment of the NPF to improved global policing. He also appreciated the outstanding support and cooperation of INTERPOL NCB Accra, INTERPOL NCB Niamey, and the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
