A global musical and scholarly talent is possessed by a man named Lorens Chuno Udeigwe but popularly known as Lawrence Udeigwe. Udeigwe, who is regarded in Nigerian music for his ability to blend styles, boldly stepped into the spotlight in December 2007 with his debut album, “Highlife, Soul, & Ecstasy.”
Critics and listeners alike praised the CD as an innovative blend of soul ballads, contemporary pop styles, and vintage highlife rhythms. As it raced to the top five on popular Nigerian radio stations like Rhythm 93.7 FM and Raypower FM, he gained popularity among music lovers at that time. Many thought Udeigwe would use the normal entertainment path to stardom, but instead, he managed to mix academics with artists.
Throughout the years, he relentlessly pursued a higher level of education, finally achieving prominence at the world stage for his contributions to mathematics and higher education.
In 2021, Udeigwe was awarded Fellowship of Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy), one of the highest honors reserved for individuals with a consistent record of excellence in teaching and learning support at the higher education level.
