A woman, Chioma Nnabuike, appeared before a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada on Friday over allegations related to a domestic dispute involving her partner.
Nnabuike, a resident of Old Kutunku in Gwagwalada, is facing charges of alleged criminal intimidation, trespass, and mischief following a complaint lodged by Mr. Nnaji Emmanuel.
According to the prosecution, the matter was reported at the Gwagwalada Police Station on April 8. Prosecutor Abdullahi Tanko told the court that tensions reportedly escalated between the two parties earlier in February when the defendant allegedly expressed strong emotions during a disagreement.
Tanko claimed that Nnabuike had allegedly made threats during a phone call to a community leader and, in a moment of anger, warned the complainant about the consequences of further misunderstandings.
It was also alleged that she gained entry into Emmanuel’s room and took some of his belongings without prior consent. The items were later recovered during a police investigation.
The charges were brought under Sections 396, 342, and 326 of the Penal Code.
Nnabuike pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In a bid to ensure fairness while the matter is being heard, Senior Magistrate Munir Sani granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000.
The court also required one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide valid identification. The surety must also be a pastor and submit evidence confirming their role.
The case has been adjourned to July 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
