The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has confirmed the arrest and conviction of a Nigerian national, Oluwaseun Kassim, for aggravated sexual abuse.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has confirmed the arrest and conviction of a Nigerian national, Oluwaseun Kassim, for aggravated sexual abuse in Kankakee, Illinois.

The arrest was carried out by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) team in Chicago as part of ongoing efforts to identify and remove non-citizens who pose a threat to public safety.

Kassim, whose conviction stems from a serious sexual offense, had been residing in the United States as a foreign national.

Following due legal process in Kankakee, he was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse — a felony offense under Illinois law.

ICE officials stated that Kassim’s case underscores the agency’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws, particularly when individuals with serious criminal convictions are involved.

“This arrest demonstrates our continued focus on targeting individuals who not only violate immigration laws but also commit violent crimes,” an ICE spokesperson said.

Kassim is now in ICE custody pending further immigration proceedings, which may lead to deportation.

No further details about the victim or the circumstances of the case have been released at this time.
