Cristiano Ronaldo signs new contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr

His new deal is expected to be very financially rewarding — just like his original contract, which reportedly paid him £177 million a year.
Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to stay with Al-Nassr for two more years, meaning he will remain at the Saudi Arabian club until after he turns 42.
The 40-year-old Portuguese star joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, shortly after leaving Manchester United on bad terms. His previous deal was set to end this June, and there were rumours he might leave. But those rumours have now been put to rest.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ronaldo said: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”
Even though Al-Nassr hasn’t won any trophies since Ronaldo joined, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has continued scoring regularly.
Last season, he scored 35 goals in 41 matches and was the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer for the second year in a row.
He has scored 99 goals in 111 games for Al-Nassr and now has a total of 938 career goals for both club and country — bringing him closer to a possible 1,000-goal milestone.
Recently, Ronaldo helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League and is likely aiming to appear in his sixth World Cup next year.
A few weeks ago, after Al-Nassr finished third in the league with no trophies, Ronaldo posted online saying, “The chapter is over.” That message made many fans think he was leaving.
There were also reports that he had offers from teams playing in the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States, but Ronaldo said he turned those down.
By extending his stay until at least 2027, it’s now unlikely Ronaldo will return to play for a top European club again.
His new deal is expected to be very financially rewarding — just like his original contract, which reportedly paid him £177 million a year.
Ronaldo is expected to feature for Portugal at next year’s FIFA World Cup holding in the United States, Canada and Mexico if he stays fit.
