Court Drama: Witness alleges harassment in Yahaya Bello’s trial

Prosecution Counsel Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, raised concerns over the alleged harassment, describing it as "serious interference with the criminal justice process."

A prosecution witness, Mashelia Aryan Mashelia Bata, who is a Compliance Officer with Zenith Bank, has alleged harassment by security aides attached to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in an ongoing ₦80.2 billion fraud case.

The allegation was made during the resumed hearing of the case before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

Prosecution Counsel Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, raised concerns over the alleged harassment, describing it as “serious interference with the criminal justice process.”

In response, Defence Counsel J.B. Daudu, SAN, expressed doubt that the individuals involved were Bello’s security personnel. However, he promised to investigate the incident and get back to the court on the next adjourned date.

“I will look into it and get back to the court on the next adjourned date. I will also speak to the witness so he can identify who harassed him,” Daudu said.

The fraud case  against  Bello, has sparked interest, with many following the developments closely.
