The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says it has raided 20 shops and storage facilities in Mushin, Lagos and seized a large consignment of “banned codeine-based syrups and other controlled substances.”

The agency revealed thisĀ  on Saturday in a post on its Facebook page.

The post read: “NAFDAC has raided over 20 shops and storage facilities along Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos State. The operation was carried out by the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate earlier this week.

“The team confiscated a large consignment of banned codeine-based syrups and other controlled substances.

“Thirteen shops were sealed for dealing in unregistered, expired, banned, and controlled products, including Dynamogen Oral Solution, Diazepam, Molly, Co-codamol, and Bromazepam.

“These dangerous substances pose severe risks to vital organs such as the brain, liver, and kidneys, as the safety and efficacy of unregistered and banned medicines cannot be guaranteed.

“NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
