Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has issued a powerful message against ageism, calling out the growing trend of using age as an insult, particularly by younger people.

In a video message shared online, Henshaw took a firm stand, voicing her frustration at how some individuals, especially young men, attempt to shame older people by weaponizing age.

“It is utterly incredulous and laughable that the first thing out of people’s mouths, especially those younger than you, is to call you old as an insult,” she said. “Do you people want to die young?”

Henshaw emphasized that aging is a gift, not a flaw, and expressed pride in the freedom and confidence that come with age.

She urged fans and critics alike to rethink societal expectations around how older individuals should act or appear.

“You haven’t been to that age,” she noted. “So why do you think you can dictate to anyone older than you how they should dress or behave?”

The actress, known for her decades-long career and outspoken activism, declared that she is unbothered by any attempts to shame her.

“Nobody can shame me. On anything. That’s the truth,” she said, challenging those who perpetuate age-based insults to come up with something more meaningful if they must criticize.

Henshaw also addressed broader social pressures, encouraging people to live authentically and not for the approval of others.

“Society is not a ghost,” she said. “It’s made up of all of us. Who made you the judge, jury, or standard for anyone’s life?”

She offered empowering advice: “Stand in your truth. Stand in all of your awesomeness, your wholeness, your power. You are created differently, and that is your superpower.”
