Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Kano businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a towering figure in Nigeria’s industrial and philanthropic landscape.

The elder statesman passed away at the age of 95.

In a heartfelt condolence message to the Dantata family, Jonathan paid glowing tribute to the late patriarch, calling him “a visionary industrialist, distinguished patriarch, and outstanding philanthropist” whose influence extended far beyond the business world.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of elder statesman and accomplished businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata. His death is a great loss to the nation, especially given his considerable contributions to entrepreneurship, economic development, and community service,” the former president said.

He praised Alhaji Dantata’s lifetime of enterprise, noting that he played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s private sector.

“Alhaji Dantata was a great industrialist whose vision and commitment helped shape Nigeria’s private sector landscape. His life was a testament to the power of enterprise, defined by humility and an unwavering dedication to the service of humanity,” Jonathan remarked.

As the patriarch of the influential Dantata family, the late businessman was recognised not only for his economic ventures but also for his legacy in promoting peace, education, and community upliftment.

“As a custodian of values that promote peace, entrepreneurship, and education, he leaves behind a rich legacy that will not only be remembered for generations but will continue to inspire many across our country,” Jonathan added.

The former president extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Kano State, and all those who benefited from Dantata’s life and work.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the good people of Kano State. May God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all those who mourn his passing,” he concluded.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata was one of the last surviving scions of the famous Dantata dynasty and is remembered as a pioneer in Nigerian commerce, philanthropy, and public service.
