Fashola Commends Etisalat Over Tennis Development

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola has commended Etisalat Nigeria for its effort at developing tennis in the country, saying the gesture would bring back the nation’s glory in the game.

Governor Fashola said there is need for other corporate organisations to emulate Etisalat’s gesture of developing the game. He charged the telecommunications compnay not to relent in its efforts to sustain the passion for sporting activities and the game of tennis in particular, adding that the reward for identifying with such activities will yield positive result in the future for the organisation.

Meanwhile, Chief Commercial Officer of the Etisalat Nigeria, Wale Ammar, has commended the Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the recently concluded 11th Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, saying the company is pleased with the opportunity given to it to be part of the great competition which brings together players from different countries.

Ammar  observed that sports would always be a unifying factor in Nigeria and for Nigerians. He commended the efforts of the organisers of the tournament for drawing attention to other sporting activities aside football in the country.

This year’s competition witnessed participation of over 40 countries around the world with the total prize of  $80,000, which has been attracting foreign participations in the ITF approved tournament annually.
