Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain in custody until his sentencing in October following a judge’s refusal to grant him bail.

The 55-year-old rapper was convicted on Wednesday by a New York jury for transporting individuals for prostitution. However, he was cleared of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Diddy’s legal team had requested a $1 million bail, arguing that he posed no flight risk and needed to care for his twin daughters following the death of their mother, Kim Porter.

But the judge, Arun Subramanian, sided with prosecutors who described the entertainer as a danger to the community.

The court cited Diddy’s violent history, including a video showing him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and a separate incident involving another woman identified as “Jane” after a police raid on his residence.

Subramanian said Diddy had shown a “disregard for the law” and failed to prove he was not a threat.

Diddy faces up to 10 years in prison for the prostitution-related offence. His arrest last year came after over 120 people — including a minor — levelled various allegations against him.

He will remain at a federal jail in Brooklyn where he has been held since 2024.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 3.
