Quick Read
The audience barely had time to process the shock before Mikki was also voted out, leaving Purp and Raymu as the final two contenders.
The latest episode of Nigerian Idol Season 10 delivered a powerful mix of emotion, drama, and vocal brilliance.
What began as a night for four finalists ended with two unforgettable talents standing tall—Purp and Raymu, as Mikki and Lawrence bowed out in a wave of applause and tears.
With the grand finale just days away, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown between two rising stars.
The evening opened with the “Judges’ Choice” round, where each contestant was assigned a challenging song handpicked to stretch their range.
Purp stepped forward first with a breathtaking performance of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All,” exuding control and elegance.
Lawrence followed, pouring his heart into Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man,” evoking deep emotion and reminding fans of his signature sensitivity.
Raymu kept the energy high with a commanding version of Usher’s “Burn,” showing off both vocal dexterity and charisma.
Mikki then captivated the audience with Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up,” delivering a heartfelt and technically sound performance.
However, the first major twist of the night arrived shortly after, when Lawrence was unexpectedly eliminated.
The audience barely had time to process the shock before Mikki was also voted out, leaving Purp and Raymu as the final two contenders.
In the second segment, titled “This Is How It Should Be Done,” the pressure intensified as the finalists were asked to revisit songs that were poorly performed during auditions.
It was their chance to correct those early mistakes and demonstrate mastery. Purp sang Demi Lovato’s “Anyone,” a track that had previously challenged many. Her version was both haunting and soulful, a raw display of vulnerability and strength.
She dedicated the performance to anyone who had ever felt isolated. Raymu chose Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’,” one of the most mishandled songs of the season. But his rendition was smooth, emotional, and technically assured, making a compelling case for why he deserves the crown. Before singing, he shared that Alicia Keys was one of his greatest inspirations and that he aspired to be a singer who tells the truth through his voice. He certainly lived up to that goal.
For the final segment of the night—“Viewers’ Choice”—fans decided what each finalist would sing. Raymu performed a stirring rendition of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down,” earning a glowing review from judge Omawumi, who said he “shone through the night.”
Purp followed with a flawless take on Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love,” wrapping the room in smooth, soulful warmth that highlighted her impeccable control and stage presence.
Before the show wrapped, Lawrence and Mikki returned to the stage for one final moment in the spotlight. Lawrence sang “Bruises” by Lewis Capaldi, a touching goodbye to a journey marked by growth and grace.
Mikki performed “We Are the World,” a fitting finale that celebrated unity and the transformative power of music.
From thousands of hopefuls across the country to two powerful finalists, this season of Nigerian Idol has been a journey of voice, vision, and determination. Now, the crown awaits either Purp or Raymu—two distinct voices with unforgettable stories. The decision is in your hands.
